History of the Arahura River

With the support of  Kaumatua ( elders)  of Arahura Pa ( tribal village ) we are able to for the first time share with the public the last privately owned river on  earth.

In New Zealand history every tribe has their own traditions for Pounamu and it has become a treasure for all peoples, past and present.

For hundreds of years there have been many battles for the greenstone. Today Kati Waewae Hapu are the living descendants of those battles.
